ALUMIL equips the Taberner House in London
The Taberner House, located 15 kilometers south from London city center, in Croydon, is a well-known building in which the city council was housed until 2015. After the decision of the local authorities, permission was given to reconstruct the building, a difficult task assigned to the architectural office AHMM with the target to design a new building complex, that would redevelop the location, combining the commercial needs with the need for affordable residencies.
According to the plan, 4 buildings will be erected, including a 32 -story tower, which will be completed in 2021 offering in total 513 new residences (for rental and sale), as well as retail spaces. The architectural approach follows the aesthetics of its environment. The design is simple, with vertical and horizontal lines and balconies with view to the green surroundings. Moreover, the architects’ vision is that the Taberner House will harmonically supplement the Queen’s Gardens park, which is currently under redevelopment process. The overall result should adopt an anthropocentric character, with emphasis on practicality, meeting the needs of citizens, as well as the smooth coexistence with the park and its green element, located directly opposite to the building complex. In addition, the Taberner House will be in line with the artistic tradition that Croydon is famous for and will provide areas for various cultural events, creating a strong community that will transform the area into a cultural pole.
Meeting the high-quality British standards (BS), the 4 buildings will be equipped with ALUMIL’s casement series SUPREME S77, an advanced insulated system, that provides superior energy efficiency, thanks to its high thermal performance meeting passive-house insulation levels. Additionally, S77 incorporates excellent sound isolation, as well as exceptional water tightness performance. Last but not least, SUPREME S77 is completely friendly to children, the elderly and people with disabilities, due to its low threshold, that facilitates unobstructed passage.
Through our experienced International Projects Department, we provide holistic support and tailor made solutions for buildings with demanding requirements all over the world.
