Alberni: The 43-storey futuristic tower in Vancouver equipped with SUPREME S700

After its completion, the eye-catching "Alberni" skyscraper is expected to be one of the most impressive buildings of the city for the architectural community. The 43-story and 133 meters tall building is going to be the center of the area, following its rezoning process. The construction will replace an old office building and will host 188 residential units, while commercial premises will be located at street level. Moreover, it will include 271 parking spaces.

The building has been designed by the famous Japanese architecture office “Kengo Kuma & Associates”, which also designed the national stadium of Tokyo. The main characteristic of the building is its two deep curved recesses in the front and the back side, that make it stand out from the traditional cuboid design, while creating semi-recesses that incorporate wood on their surfaces. According to the vision of Kengo Kuma, Alberni, aims to be in harmony with its natural surroundings of the area, including the mountains and the proximity of the waterfront.

The facade is in line with the gentle light of Vancouver and the architect’s target was to improve the urban environment, without taking distance from nature. The building structure will be equipped with the lift & slide system SUPREME S700 and the casement system SUPREME S77 of ALUMIL. Both systems are advanced solutions that combine exceptional energy performance with security and modern design. Additionally, the enhanced daylight intake thanks to the wide glazing surfaces, supports the architectural needs of the building, forming the perfect solution, that highlights the building’s special attributes. The systems were certified according to the strict specifications of NAFS (North American Fenestration Standard), for their high performance in air permeability, condensation, thermal insulation, and wind load resistance.

ALUMIL, once again is part of a brilliant international project, enhancing further its global development thanks to its world-class architectural aluminium systems.
