"The main element of this unique "cave" (ed. for “Ncaved House”) was the large, framed view of the sea to the east and the interior atriums to the west, unifying all the interiors with the landscape. ALUMIL's minimal aluminium systems helped us to achieve exactly this purpose. Aga Khan University Centre
The Aga Khan University Centre is a landmark vertical campus redefining medical education in East Africa. Designed to foster innovation and collaboration, the facility integrates modern classrooms, simulation labs, and faculty spaces within a compact 0.75-hectare site.
Thoughtfully planned courtyards and informal gathering areas enhance the user experience, blending academic function with a human-centered approach. The project also champions sustainability, achieving EDGE Advanced certification with significant reductions in energy (41%), water (22%), and embodied carbon (28%).
The COMFORT M9400 hinged system was used, offering a wide range of typologies that supported the architectural vision and long-term performance. With reliable air and water tightness, sound insulation up to 36 dB, and strong wind resistance, it proves ideal for the demands of a modern academic facility.
