The eLement
The eLement
The eLement, located in Marousi, Athens, is a modern office building that combines elegance through simplicity with high performance through sustainable development practices.
The architect responsible for its design and striking result is Rena Sakellaridou (RS SPARCH). As she characteristically notes about the project, “I wanted the building to open up towards the square, towards the view. To appear ethereal. The canopies, with their sharp angles and soft curves, should give the impression of flying, through their continuous movement from floor to floor.” The eLement comprises seven levels in total - a ground floor, four office floors covering 7,000 sq.m., and two basement levels providing 199 parking spaces. The building with its L-shape - from which it takes its name - surrounds a garden and an existing three-story construction, creating a square.
A dominant element of the design is the electrically operated vertical louvers made of anodized, perforated aluminium, which contribute to enhanced shading and underline the sense of movement, without obstructing the view.
On the façades, exposed white concrete coexists with advanced curtain walls and hinged aluminium systems, reinforcing the final result while serving the architectural vision. Inside, natural light is abundant, giving the spaces a sense of openness. It is worth noting that a distinctive feature of the building is its planted roofs, which serve as leisure and break areas, bring the natural element to the forefront, and enhance the everyday experience of employees and visitors. In addition, the eLement has achieved A+ energy classification, has received Platinum LEED certification (LEED for Core and Shell), and incorporates all necessary technologies to ensure a low environmental footprint, constituting a building created with a strong emphasis on the principles of sustainability.
