Turn the winter until summer and enjoy a warm house all year round!

Winter is a period characterized by low temperatures, humidity, winds, rain or snowfall. It is thus a particularly demanding time for our home and the way it reacts to these conditions.

A key role is of course held by our window and door frames (as this is where we usually have significant losses), but also the general layout of the interior. So how can one have a warm house in winter and increase the temperature inside the house?

Radiator

Do not block the heating sources

In many homes there is a tendency to place household furniture in front of heat sources. It is for example likely that you have your sofas right in front of radiators. This tactic can help to keep you warm while you stay in this spot. However, it works to the detriment of the overall performance of the radiators. This is because sofas absorb heat and do not allow it to diffuse freely throughout your room. Placing your furniture in a way that does not block the heat sources is crucial to the heat flow in your space.

Position your plants intelligently

If you have houseplants and they are placed near your windows, it would be a good idea to move them during the winter months.

Plants, when placed next to windows or balcony doors, increase humidity.

So place your pots away from window openings and you will see a difference.

Draw your Curtains

During the winter, the sun appears less frequently, making it especially important to take full advantage of it. During sunny hours, be sure to draw your curtains open so that the room can absorb the sunlight. When the night starts to set it, close the curtains again, essentially using them as additional layer of insulation. This helps retain heat inside.

Use rugs

The floors of our house are the first surface where we feel the chill when walking barefoot. The use of rugs in the bedrooms or the living room helps to keep your feet warm while "insulating" the floor.

This provides an additional layer of defense against low temperatures. A house with fewer "bare" spots on the floor has a clear advantage in maintaining a cozy, warm atmosphere. If your home has underfloor heating, you are of course already covered.

Upgrading Selected Spaces

For many, the replacement of all the frames of the home is a significant financial expense. There is however another solution that could significantly improve the conditions of your home at a lower cost. You can therefore replace not all, but some of your frames, depending on the areas you wish to make more energy efficient. You need to assess which rooms you spend more time in or which parts of the house are most affected (e.g. rooms with an outside wall or rooms without heating).

Also, if you have children, check the condition of their rooms. The smart choice of specific rooms for the replacement of frames will allow you to "fortify" key areas of your home without spending a large amount of money. Here are some ideas of state-of-the-art aluminium frames.

Replacement of old frames

If your frames are old or badly damaged, then replacing them can have great results. Depending on the location of the house, you should weigh your options, based on the energy efficiency of the frame system you choose, its thermal insulation performance, as well as the type of glass and its corresponding features. A high-performance system is sure to radically transform the way you feel in your home during the winter.

To enjoy a cozy and warm home during the winter, a series of steps must be taken, each one indispensable. It all starts with the quality of our frames and the type of heating.

But it also involves other "small" yet significant choices that can make a positive difference.
